AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

The BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.

The BLS course covers:

  • adult, child and infant CPR
  • two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask
  • foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)
  • automated external defibrillation (includes child AED update)
  • special resuscitation situations
  • other cardiopulmonary emergencies
  • stroke and cardiac arrest

BLS training is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed, healthcare professionals, including:

  • physicians
  • nurses
  • paramedics
  • emergency medical technicians
  • respiratory, physical, and occupational therapists
  • physician’s assistants
  • residents or fellows
  • medical or nursing students in training
  • aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel

In addition, BLS training can be appropriate for first responders, such as police officers and firefighters, as well as for laypeople whose work brings them into contact with members of the public, such as school, fitness center, or hotel and restaurant employees.

Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card.

ACLS Initial

 

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers

Now offering Basic ECG and Pharmacology. A great pre-course to the ACLS and PALS Classes.

 The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.

Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

The ACLS course covers:

  • effective resuscitation team dynamics
  • science overview (update course)

ACLS training is intended for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of the hospital, including:

  • physicians
  • nurses
  • emergency medical technicians

  • staff in intensive care units and emergency or critical care departments
  • other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency

Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for an ACLS Course Completion Card.

To be successful in any ACLS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course. It is strongly recommended that students review the ACLS course materials and complete a precourse self-assessment using the tools in their student materials before starting the course.

American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider Re-Certification Course. You MUST bring your current AHA ACLS Provider Certification Card to class and also provide a 2010/2011 Edition of the American Heart Association ACLS Provider Course Manual at class.

PALS Initial

American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Initial Course. Upon completion of this PALS class the health care provider will be able to understand how to recognize and prevent the common causes of pediatric injuries and emergencies that require resuscitation. You’ll understand how to recognize respiratory failure, shock, and cardiac arrest and initiate advanced resuscitation with airway and ventilation control, vascular access, fluid and medication therapy and identify and treat rhythm disturbances.

You must provide a 2011 Edition of the American heart Association PALS Provider Course Manual at class.
**You must also complete the Precourse test and bring the results to class on the first day.

PALS Update

Adult: ECG Rhythm Identification (online only)

What is it?

Learn: Rhythm Adult is an online, self-directed course that introduces healthcare providers to normal cardiac rhythms and prepares them to recognize basic cardiac arrhythmias in clinical practice. Electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm recognition is a key skill required to be successful in determining a patient’s condition and knowing which treatment algorithm to apply. This course allows healthcare providers to gain proficiency in ECG rhythm recognition in an effort to provide better treatment and improve patient outcomes.

Students have access to course material for 12 months after activating the course. No skills session is required for course completion; however, a certificate of completion is available to print.

  • Key changes in science, reflecting the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

BLS for Healthcare Providers Online is a fast, official American Heart Association (AHA) Self-Directed Comprehensive online cpr course which allows students to take the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR) course on a computer, instead of attending a traditional, classroom based course using simulation technology and scenario-based learning.

AHA eLearning steps
Duration: 1-2 hours online + 45 minute skills session at training center.

This online healthcare provider cpr training program also includes the complete textbook online, so there is no need to purchase that separately. This is state of the art. It is a very fun way to do your skills testing and computers make sure that you are doing compressions and breathing exactly right. This is AHA accredited and you will receive the same Course Completion Card after completing your skills as you would from taking a traditional class.

 

eLearning ACLS Course

This BRAND NEW course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.
An alternative to traditional, classroom-based ACLS training, HeartCode™ ACLS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association. The full course combines an interactive, cognitive portion completed online, with CPR skills training. It includes interactive patient cases that test the user’s ability to apply the ACLS algorithms to effect treatment. Users can practice and test their skills on a Voice Assisted Manikin (VAM) or with a certified AHA ACLS Instructor. HeartCode™ ACLS includes interactive patient cases that test the student’s ability to apply the ACLS algorithms to effect treatment. HeartCode™ ACLS will provide your team the benefits of standardized ACLS instruction and improved competency.

Students can earn or renew their provider card in three easy steps!

Training Instructor 1A: Cognitive Lesson Delivery (2010)

Designed for: Personnel preparing for a Company Officer, SFT Registered Instructor, or Training Officer position This is the first of a three-course series. Topics include methods and techniques for training in accordance with the latest concepts in career education; selecting, adapting, organizing, and using instructional materials appropriate for teaching cognitive lessons; criteria and methods to evaluate teaching and learning efficiency; and an opportunity to apply major principles of learning through teaching demonstrations. Two (2) student instructor teaching demonstrations are required of all.

CSFM Fire Command 1A

Designed For: First-in incident commander and company officers. Description: This course provides instruction and simulation time pertaining to the initial decision and action processes at a working fire. Topics include the fire officer, fire behavior, fireground resources, operations, and management.

CSFM Fire Command 1B

Fire Command 1B: Incident Management for Company Officers: 

This course provides the student with information on tactics, strategies, 
and scene management for multi-casualty incidents, hazardous materials 
incidents, and wildland fires. Each student also has the opportunity to 
increase his or her knowledge and skills by handling initial operations at 

these types of incidents through simulation and class activities.

CSFM Fire Management 1

Course: Fire Management 1: Management/Supervision for Company Officers (2000) CFSTES 

Designed For: Company Officers or fire fighters preparing for the position of Company Officer 

DescriptionThis course prepares or enhances the first line supervisor's ability to supervise subordinates. It introduces key management concepts and practices utilized and includes discussions about decision making, time management, leadership styles, personnel evaluations, and counseling guidelines.
